USDCAD Faces Resistance at 1.41685 as Sellers Fail to Sustain Momentum

USDCAD bulls defend key support levels amid repeated failed attempts by sellers to break below the 100-hour moving average at 1.41685.

Technical Resistance Limits Downside in USDCAD

The USDCAD pair encountered renewed selling pressure during the early Asian session but stalled near the declining 100-hour moving average at 1.41685. This level continues to serve as a critical short-term resistance marker, with buyers repeatedly testing and failing to sustain momentum above it over the past three sessions.

Last Wednesday, buyers attempted to reclaim the moving average but were swiftly rejected. A similar dynamic unfolded on Thursday, as a fresh rally toward 1.41685 attracted aggressive selling. Friday’s session saw the pair breach the 1.41488 swing level and the 1.41297–1.41386 support zone—a region that had underpinned price action since June 18. However, the breakdown lacked follow-through, with buyers stepping in to defend the lower end of the recent range.

Key Support Levels Under Scrutiny

Despite intraday dips below the 1.41297–1.41386 area, sellers have struggled to extend gains. The pair’s rebound from 1.41260 on Friday highlights persistent demand near the range’s floor. For bullish momentum to resume, a sustained move above 1.41488 is required, with the 1.41685 moving average acting as the next critical hurdle. A confirmed break above this level would signal a shift toward a more positive short-term bias.

Market Implications for Traders

Traders are likely to monitor the 1.41488–1.41685 zone closely for directional cues. While the pair remains range-bound, the repeated failure to breach resistance underscores cautious sentiment. No immediate catalyst from inflation or central bank policy appears to be driving the move, leaving technical factors as the primary driver. Risk appetite is neutral, with no clear correlation to broader market trends.
