USDCAD Trading Range Analysis: Sellers Hold Near Key Moving Averages

USDCAD Trading Range Analysis: Sellers Hold Near Key Moving Averages

USDCAD remains in a trading range below 100/200-hour MAs. Sellers maintain control as price tests key support levels.

USDCAD Trading Range Persists Below Converged Moving Averages

The USDCAD pair continues to trade within a well-defined range between 1.4148 and 1.42473, a pattern that has persisted since June 19. The upper boundary has been reinforced by a triple-top formation near 1.4247, while the lower end has withstood four consecutive tests, underscoring the tug-of-war between bulls and bears.

Near the midpoint of this range, the 100-hour and 200-hour moving averages have nearly converged around 1.4200. During the early Asian session, buyers made a brief attempt to reclaim these levels, but sellers quickly countered, pushing the pair to a session low of 1.4155. A subsequent rebound stalled just shy of the moving averages, with the pair currently hovering around 1.4186.

The technical setup suggests that as long as USDCAD remains below the 100- and 200-hour moving averages, the short-term bias leans toward sellers. However, a decisive breakdown below the range floor at 1.4147 and the subsequent swing low at 1.41297 is required to confirm bearish momentum. Until then, the market remains in a fragile equilibrium.

Conversely, a sustained move above the moving averages would shift the near-term advantage to buyers, redirecting attention toward the triple-top resistance at 1.4247. A confirmed breakout above this level could pave the way for a bullish extension, targeting the 61.8% retracement of the decline from the January 31, 2025 high to the January 29, 2026 low, located at 1.42928.

For active traders, the range-bound dynamics highlight the importance of key technical levels. Sellers will look to capitalize on any failure to reclaim the moving averages, while buyers seek a catalyst to push through the resistance cluster. Market sentiment remains cautious amid the lack of clear directional momentum.
